As part of the European Year of Cultural Heritage celebration, the EU Delegation to Serbia and the EU Info Centre in Belgrade have staged an exhibition featuring cultural heritage sites from across Serbia whose preservation and/or reconstruction has been supported by the EU. The Subotica Synagogue, the Franciscan Monastery in Bac, the Fortress in Bac, Felix Romuliana are some examples of the cultural heritage sites reconstructed or preserved thanks to EU financial assistance. European Union support for cultural projects is channelled through various projects and programmes – from cross-border cooperation programmes to Creative Europe. During the 52nd BITEF festival, visitors had an opportunity to remind of the rich Serbian cultural heritage. Accompanying the exhibition, the audiences had an opportunity to see a number of short films produced throughout 2018, the European Year of Cultural Heritage.
We talked with Ambassador Sem Fabrizi, Head of Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Serbia, about the importance of Bitef and the reasons why they decided to be one of the major sponsors this year.
