Before the opening of the festival, at 7 pm in the foyer of the Yugoslav Drama Theater, the exhibition "European Year of Cultural Heritage - Greetings From Serbia" was opened. The exhibition was opened by Ivan Medenica, Artistic Director of Bitef and Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia, Ambassador Sem Fabrizi. They welcomed guests at festive cocktail held on the occasion of the opening of the exhibition and announced the opening ceremony of the festival.

Bitef festival was officially opened by one of the leading philosophers of the younger generation Srećko Horvat. After the opening ceremony, the play "Suite No. 3 'Europe' delighted the audience.
Debate "Challenges of modern democracy" was held earlier in the day, at EU Info Center.
